Accessibility Committee
As mentioned at our last School Council meeting, we're pleased to provide more information here about a new parent-led initiative at Bowmore... the Accessibility Committee.
Open to all stakeholders in the Bowmore Community the Committee is currently run through a What's App group chat. Please email us to be added to the group.
The Accessibility Committee will highlight and address educational barriers (I.e physical, attitudinal, intellectual, etc.) working towards increasing access to education for all children in the Bowmore community. The co-learning model will guide decision-making processes ensuring a unified approach while pursuing our community centred goals. The committee will provide the following services:
Contact for accessibility needs
Community consultation
Support for parents, teachers and administrators
Reviewing current accessibility challenges at least twice per year in collaboration with school administration
Offer recommendations for resources, speakers, tools, etc. as needed
Survey Bowmore staff to identify potential accessibility gaps and gather requests for resources
Thank you to all the amazing parents, teachers and caregivers who are already working together to increase access to education for all children in the Bowmore community!
