Classroom Reps…

In another attempt to make sure as many caregivers as possible have all of the information about the goings on of our school, we are hoping to introduce the concept of classroom reps.

With a minimum of one parent/caregiver volunteer per room we can ensure that all pertinent news about the school makes to as many stakeholders as possible… the workload will be light - just passing along a few key messages via existing channels (or coordinating with teachers to send out the few key messages as needed).

Please send a message to bowmoresc@gmail.com if you’re interested in participating.

Caregiver Feedback Form

We are introducing a new “Caregiver Connection Form” hosted here on the School Council website.

It’s a fast, easy way to get in touch with us with a few clicks of a button.

Have a question? Have a concern? Want to send thanks to faculty and staff? The good, the bad, the excellent - we want to hear from you.

Your responses are confidential and will only be viewed by School Council Executive for the purposes of supporting community engagement.

On larger school related issues, understanding more about patterns and keeping good records can help us get the resourcing and attention the school may need. We’ll do our best to work with administration and other stakeholders to get issues brought to light.

Please remember, any urgent or sensitive concerns should be reported directly to the administration or TDSB in accordance with board policies.

Access the form here.

Bowmore’s Carnival is Thursday, September 25th from 4-7pm. Rain or shine!

*** WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS ***

This is our biggest community gathering and fundraiser of the year and we still need volunteers to make this a success. We need more parent volunteers (we have a lot of students) so we can run ALL of the inflatables. If we don’t have enough parent volunteers, we will have to cancel some of the inflatables.

If you can commit to one hour (or more!) between 2pm and 8pm it would make all the difference. Please reach out to bowmorecarnival@gmail.com with your availability.

A quick reminder that pre-purchasing for Carnival tickets will close on Sunday, September 21 at 11:59 PM.

After that time, tickets will only be available for purchase at the event. Pre-ordering is the best way to avoid lines and make sure your family is ready for all the fun! You can purchase tickets through cashonline here!

THANK YOU!

Thank You From Pizza Lunch!

A heartfelt thank you to our entire community for their support of our pizza lunch program this year!  We have sorted and delivered over 15,000 slices of pizza this year and raised over $12,000 for our school council budget next year. These funds will be used to support many initiatives throughout the school, including extra science programming in the classrooms, author visits for all grades, and many of our school’s clubs and sports teams.

An extra thank you to the team of parent and caregiver volunteers who carried all those pizzas into the school and sorted them all by class, and to our grade 8 students who helped to deliver the pizzas to our 40 homerooms, and all in under 30 minutes each time!  Without you pizza lunch would not be possible.

Daily Physical Activity Bag Drive - Our Last Big Push!

Dear Bowmore Community,

A BIG thank you to all the families that donated gently used sporting goods for our DPA (Daily Physical Activity) Bag Drive earlier this Spring! Thanks to your generosity (and Spring cleaning!), we were able to cut our financial need for this project by 50% and give your items a new purpose, reducing our environmental impact.

School Council is asking for your help one more time before the end of the year. We still need to fundraise $5000 in order to provide an age appropriate Daily Physical Activity Bag for EACH CLASSROOM when they return to school in September.

The TDSB mandates that students receive 20 minutes of outdoor designated physical activity (DPA) on days where they don't have scheduled gym class or swimming.   This time allows for necessary brain and body breaks while promoting physical fitness.   Currently, we do not have enough sports and outdoor activity equipment for each class to support teamwork, collaboration and fitness during this time.

You can donate enough to cover a skipping rope, a basketball or a bundle of sports equipment. Truly, any amount helps! Please donate TODAY via cash on line!
